Our Story

MIA offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that prepares student for future successes, leading to purposeful, fulfilling lives. MIA's rigorous 9-12 academic program is balanced by a tremendously supportive and hands-on faculty with an interdisciplinary curriculum affording students abundant opportunities to realize their potential. MIA strives to graduate citizens who can discuss important matters articulately, think critically, communicate complex concepts, and act responsibly on a social, political, and global level.


The academic program at MIA provides students with opportunities to pursue avenues of interest while gaining a solid foundation in all academic disciplines. MIA places an emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and Marine Science. The Academy also boasts of an extraordinary English, History, Fine and Performing Arts, Spanish Language, and Cambridge AICE Honors Program to offer many opportunities for advanced work in all subject areas.

MIA identifies the students' academic potential and differentiates the coursework to cater to all abilities. The intuitive variety of pedagogical approaches at MIA enriches the learning of each student, allowing for success of students with a variety of learning styles.

The Mission

The mission of Marco Island Academy is to provide a student-centered, well-rounded, interdisciplinary education. Students will engage in critical thinking while focusing on math, science, technology, environmental and global studies. The Academy will uphold the highest standards of academic excellence, integrity, respect, and social responsibility, while guiding students to achieve post-secondary success.

Our Story

Peter Bielagus — Financial Advisor, Author, Speaker
 

Peter Bielagus is a former financial advisor turned educator who has delivered over 1000 presentations to students, professionals, and service members all over the world.  His former clients include Zappos.com, Harvard Law School, and all branches of the United States military.  The author of seven books, Bielagus is a frequent guest of the media, having appeared in the MiamiHerald, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and on the PBS special Your Life, Your Money.

Tamra Richardt — Employment Instructor, Author, Speaker
 

Tamra Richardt has spent the last twenty years as a keynote speaker and lecturer to people in corporations, colleges, trade schools, and universities.  A master’s degree educator, she has over twenty years of experience in media and has interviewed and worked for some of the biggest global companies.  An interview veteran and career adviser, Tamra has authored five books on the topics of professional presentation in the work-life arena, and instructs students on the art of interviewing and strategic actions to ensure career success.
